　　在俚语中sting还常常以被动语态出现，表示诳骗，敲诈的意思。

　　例如：He was stung for $200.他被敲诈掉200美元。

　　还有，the masses，劳动人民，等等。

　　此外mass还可以做动词表示聚集，使集合的意思。

　　例如：Dark clouds massed, and we expected rain.乌云密集, 我们企盼下雨。

　　4. point finger：公开指责某人。

　　比如新闻中的：now is not the time to point fingers，意思就是现在不是相互指责的时候，眼下之意就是要联合起来，共度难关。

　　5. folk：名词亲属；人们；民族；形容词民间的。

　　folk常常以复数形式出现，表示特定的人群特定群体或种类的人。

　　比如：city folks，城市人。rich folk.，富人。the old folks，长辈们，老人们；the young folks年轻人，儿女们，等等。
