Ken: Boy, am I glad to see a friendly face!
Ann: Bad day so far?
Ken: I just had a customer from hell...so, did you enjoy the movies?
Ann: Yes, I give it a thumbs up. I think it deserves an Oscar.
Ken: Glad you like it. May I suggest a DVD this time?
Ann: No, thanks. I don't have a DVD player.
Ken: We sell a great one. You can watch any region's DVD, and it's not expensive.
Ann: Actually, I've been thinking about getting one.
Ken: And if you buy it here, you get twenty "rent one, get one free" coupons.
Ann: What a deal!
Ken: And DVD's come with extra clips, comments and info on the making of the movie.
Ann: You've got me sold on the idea.

讲解：

1. Ken被Lily气得够呛，这时Ann走了进来，Ken看到她，就高兴起来了，am I glad to see a friendly face! 真高兴见到一张友善的脸。这句话正常应该是 I am glad to see a friendly face! 但是这里用了倒装Am I...，表示感叹的语气。

2. Ann很同情他，说Bad day so far? 今天到现在还不顺啊？记得以前我们也讲过这样一个句式，就是So far so good. 到目前为止一切都好。Ken抱怨说， I just had a customer from hell...表面上是说“我刚领教了一个从地狱来的客人”，实际上是，我刚刚领教了一个很糟糕的客人。

3. Ken 问Ann租的电影好不好看，Ann说，I give it a thumbs up. 我给它竖起大拇指的评价。这里thumbs up是“表示成功或赞许的用语或手势，比如对话中的句子。那么thumbs down跟thumbs up相对，“表示失败或拒绝的用语或手势”，比如说，I'm afraid it's thumbs down for your new proposal. 恐怕你的新建议是行不通了。

4. Ken很高兴Ann能喜欢他推荐的电影，这次他想给Ann推荐一部DVD版本的片子。但是Ann家里没有DVD的播放机，Ken 顺势推荐他们店里的DVD播放机，性能很好，是全区的机型，而且不贵。You can watch any region's DVD，那么这里的region又是怎么一回事呢？region就是指“区域”，DVD播放机因为内码设定分为三区，非全区的机型无法看到其他区域的DVD，就会出现卡碟等现象。

5. Ann确实也在计划买一台DVD播放机，Ken又说，如果Ann在店里买了DVD播放机，就可以得到二十张“租一张，送一张”的优惠券。coupon就是指“商店里用来促销的优惠券”，比如说，Ten dollars off if you use this coupon. 凭这张优惠券可以便宜10美元。Ann觉得这个优惠政策很好，她说What a deal! 真是划算！以后大家买东西占到便宜的时候就可以这么说了。

6. 而且DVD里还有拍摄花絮，评论和电影资讯。这些都很吸引人，Ann说You've got me sold on the idea. have got someone sold on something表示“成功地把某物推销给某人”，在口语当中比较常用，比如说，I like the house but I'm not sold on the area. 我喜欢这房子，但是没有相中这个地段。
